What are Factions in Amazon’s New World?

Factions in Amazon’s New world are made up of groups of players and companies that represent a united faction within Aeternum. When starting the game players can pick between the 3 factions of Aeternum allowing them to take part in PvP content and lay claim to land from the opposing factions.

What Factions are the in New World?

On the Isle of Aeternum, there are 3 factions to choose from. The Militaristic, war-hungry Marauders, The Syndicate that operates as a secret society within the world of Aeternum or the religious Covenant. Each faction has its own vision for the progression of Aeternum and its own motivations to control land and lay claim to the isle.

The Marauders

The Covenant

The Syndicate

Living examples of the credo “might makes right,” the Marauders are a ruthless military force bent on establishing a free nation where anyone with the strength and determination to stake a claim can do so. Divine champions who are driven by conviction and their faith in the light of the Spark, the Covenant fights with righteousness and justice for the struggling souls of all living things. Working in the shadows and dealing with secrets, members of the Syndicate use their boundless guile and intellect in pursuit of forbidden knowledge.

Why are factions important in New World?

Factions make up a very essential role in New World and will become a core part of your gameplay as you progress through Aeternum. Factions are required to allow you to hold territory and take part in certain events, such as PvP missions and wars.

Some of the key benefits to joining a faction are:

  • Faction specific missions
  • Influence and territory control
  • PvP Missions
  • Elite faction specific gear that is purchased from faction vendors
  • Reduced cost of workshops and fast travel in controlled areas
  • Upgradable town projects in controlled settlements

What faction should I join?

All of the factions in the new world are very similar so the one you choose will not make a dramatic effect on your progression in the game. However, there are things that you should consider when making the decision to join a faction. Depending on your server there may be a more dominant faction. Whilst it may seem obvious to join the more dominant faction this may not always result in the most fun. If you are looking forward to waging war and getting involved in battles to take on the dominant faction, you may find more enjoyment from picking the underdog.

If you are looking to play Amazon’s New World with friends then it will be important to jump on the same faction as them so that you are able to join companies and help each other out in the game.

Can you switch Faction in Amazon’s New World?

The short answer to this question is yes, however, you can only switch factions once every 120 days and you can not switch to the dominant faction on the server. This is to keep things fair on each server. Switching factions also comes at a cost. You will lose all the tokens and rank that you have gained to date incentivizing you to make the decision to join the right faction from the start.

Companies inside factions

Companies are New Worlds take on Guilds or Clans. Each faction will be made up of play-run groups of players, known as Companies. Companies are made up of up to 100 players with a collective goal to work together on Aeternum.

Companies will be controlled by a governor who will have the responsibility of leading the company either to victory or failure based on their decisions and commitment to their company.

Governors are responsible for:

  • Setting taxes for owned settlements
  • Starting town projects
  • War declarations and deciding on who takes part in them

A governor within a company can also assign other players to help with this role. These members are called consuls and have the same powers as a Governer to allow them to assist with running the company in the absence of the leader.

Prove your might and stand for your Faction in War!

War is one, if not “the”, biggest part of factions. Wars are large-scale 50 vs 50 PVP battles that will allow factions to take control of territory. Factions and companies are able to declare war on a territory that is owned by an opposing faction once enough influence has been gained in any given area.

Influence is gained within the territory by undertaking Faction Missions. This can be through PVE or PVP content in the game. PVE Missions will focus on defending the land from invading creatures whilst PVP missions task you with defeating members of the opposing faction within the territory.
