Introduction to Cooking

Cooking is a skill that you should be levelling as you progress through the game as it is very simple to gain levels in and the buffs that the food gives you can be broken! At all times you should have food with you and always have one eaten because it is a slow health regen especially if you’re out questing! Also because the food that you hold in the 4 consumable slots doesn’t add to the weight carried you should stack your heavier items there for example if you have 100 light meals and 2 energising meals you should have the 100 light meals in the consumable slot so you can carry more resources as this is more of the priority than carrying the 100 meals! With cooking, you can upgrade attributes for a short while or increase your luck while harvesting.

What can you make with Cooking!?

You can create a wide range of meals with cooking as seen above! Each does different things that will buff your character for a short while!

Levelling Cooking Tips

Cooking is very easy to level and there are a few different methods that you can use. But you should have a lot of the raw materials from skinning animals as you’ve played the game! The meats you get will be the base of most meals that you make in cooking so make sure you skin all the animals that you see especially if you’re doing a round of collecting materials to level your cooking! As you’ll see later with the routes there will be mobs to kill and skin on your travels and you are going to want to do it because more materials = more levelling in your cooking!

Using Cooking Resources

There are 4 main “meals” you can make with cooking:

  1. Basic cooking: These are your meals that recover health over a slow period of time or you can make the ones that replenish mana over time.
  2. Attribute foods: These are you foods that increase your attribute stats such as INT, FOC, STR, DEX and CONS. The meals will increase the attribute by a certain amount for a short period of time. And can come in clutch when you’re in a PvP situation such as wars or just, in general, running around in PvP.
  3. Trade skill foods: These are a few uses for this, you have increased luck by a certain amount when logging, mining, harvesting or skinning. These can increase your chances of finding rare items so when you’re on a farming loop you should pop one of these and try and test your luck in finding rare items.
  4. Dyes: These are ways you can change the colour of your armour and if you’re the type of player who doesn’t like the base colour then change it or you and your company want to be in sync then change the colour to match! Imagine a company uniform ;)

Cooking Efficiency 101

When running around you should be collecting whatever foods you can find such as berries, nuts or animals to skin. Unless you are on specific farming loops then these should be very easy to collect as they are everywhere!

These are your best methods to level up cooking fast below!

Cook the following foods:

  • Lvl 0-50: 144 travel rations

  • Lvl 50-100: 276 light meals

  • Lvl 100-150: 395 satisfying meals

  • Lvl 150-200: 509 hearty meals

For these, buy the following ingredients from the marketplace:

  • 3552 ANY TIER cheapest foods at 0.3g/per = 1065g

  • 276 Cheapest Tier 3 raw foods (e.g. berries/blueberries) at 0.3g/per = 83g

  • 395 Cheapest Tier 4 raw foods (e.g. broccoli/wheat) at 2g/per = 790g

  • 509 Cheapest Tier 5 raw foods (e.g. coconut/rice) at 1g/per = 509g

  • 509 honey at 0.5/per = 255g

Total price: 2702g + buying fees + crafting fees, for a total of around 3k.

Now, these are the prices we bought these foods for (on average) earlier today. Your server prices may be different.

To buy the cheap foods easily, go to market place -> buy -> raw resources -> cooking ingredients, and start scrolling. You’ll probably see some water first, followed by the cheapest raw foods. Now, remember, ANY of these can be used as secondary ingredients! Usually, the cheapest are mushrooms, berries, milk, honey, potatoes, squash and carrot. BUT, if tier V coconuts or rice are the cheapest raw foods, use them for your low tier foods as well!

For this method, you’ll need to be at level 50 cooking which you should gain very quickly by just making basic foods.

Then head to Monarchs bluff and go collecting nuts they are all around the region and should be very easy to find as long as no one else is farming the same spot. Then head to everfall and collect Blueberries and these should be easy to find south of the town by the Obelisk. Then Berries are in First Light South East and cross the bridge to find heaps of berries.

If you don’t feel like collecting them then try buying them off the trading post. Currently on our server Blueberries are 0.6g/1. Berries are 1g/1. Nuts are 0.55g/1. So depending on how productive you feel or if you want to level your gathering you should go and collect the resources as they are easy to find and are all over the place.

Then you want to craft as many of the tier 3 meals as you can! If you don’t want them then sell them on the market or keep them and use them or distribute them to your company.

So, with 3000 of each resource, you can get 95k worth of exp for your character level and go up 105 levels!
